Took my 2007 Jeep Wrangler in for a coolant leak...they told me my Jeep was leaking everywhere and needed a freeze plug replaced, but they didn't have the equipment to do it, so asked me to pick up my Jeep...their quote was 2300.00...I paid 175.00 for them to tell me they couldn't fix it...when I picked it up they said they had checked all my levels, but the radiator was bone dry, so they filled it with water not antifreeze. I ended up taking it to Gene's Auto Repair, said they had never had to replace a freeze plug ever for that...they fixed it 1100.00 out the door!!!!!!!
Joanne, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your visit with us left you feeling frustrated — that's never the outcome we want for our customers. When your Jeep was brought in, our technicians found multiple leaks and identified what we believed to be a significant issue with a freeze plug, which typically requires a certain size freeze plug and a specialized tool for that size we don’t have in-house. Rather than risk a partial repair, we recommended you take it to a shop better equipped for that specific job. The $165 you were charged covered the diagnostic time and inspection of your vehicle. We apologize if there was any confusion regarding the coolant refill — we should have been clearer about using water temporarily so your vehicle could be safely moved. This is standard when antifreeze isn't immediately available or when a vehicle is still leaking, but we understand how that could feel like a shortcut and we’ll work to better explain that in the future. We’re glad Gene’s Auto Repair was able to get you back on the road and that your Jeep is fixed. While we may not always be the right fit for every repair, we do aim to provide honest assessments — even if that means sending a customer elsewhere when it's in their best interest. Thank you again for your feedback. It helps us do better.
